Bill Peele, Malinda Peele James, George "Buddy" James in the 1990's

Bill Peele and Malinda James (left and middle) were siblings.  They were the 7th and 10th children, respectively, of Enoch Peele and Cottie Pierce.

George “Buddy” James, on right, was Malinda’s husband. Buddy was the son of Dora Smith and George James.

Dora Smith is my aunt. Leora Smith was my grandmother. I remember Mrs. Cottie. I used to love going over to Cousin Jonah and Catherine’s house.

I never quite knew how we were related though. My mom can’t seem to remember either.

    How were they cousins?

      Hi Corey,

Wealthy Ann Brooks (b about 1867) and Beada Brooks (b about 1868) were sisters.
Wealthy’s daughter was Cottie Pierce (my grandmother and Jonah’s mother).
Beada’s daughter was Leora Smith (your grandmother). That makes us 3rd cousins.

    Excellent thanks!

I show Beada and Wealthy’s parents were James Brooks and Elvira Boston. Is that correct?

Did Beada and Wealthy have any more siblings?

Beada and Wealthy had two brothers, at least that’s what I’ve gotten from the census on (you’re on Ancestry, right?). Their names were James Riley and Charlie.

As for the parents being James Brooks and Elvira Boston, I think that’s correct, but I’m not positive what Elvira’s maiden name was, or hold old she was. I think it’s Boston, but I see on Beada’s death certificate that her mother’s name was listed as Elvira James. Where did you get info about Elvira’s name being Boston?

    Hi Corey,

Let me know what you find out, because I’ve been stumped about this for quite a while. The larger question is how Elvira is related to David Boston? I had info that David Boston (b. about 1787) was the father of Robert (b about 1815), who was the father of Elvira (born about 1829). I can’t find anything to substantiate a link between Robert and Elvira, and if those birth years are correct, that would make Robert 14 or 15 years old when Elvira was born. Not impossible, but enough to make me suspicious.

P.S. Do you have any images of Leora or Dora? If so, it would be great to post them here.
